Independent Travellers Cover
Have your clients been affected by current travel problems caused by the volcanic ash cloud?
Some of them may have insufficient cover to financially protect them in case of delay, cancellation and curtailment.
Many travel insurers now offer no cover at all for volcanic ash-related incidents if the holiday was booked after 15th April 2010 or the travel policy was taken out after that date. At present, we have no such restriction.
Fortunately, those who book their travel through recognised travel agents and tour operators receive financial protection to cover certain additional costs. However, an increasing number of travellers choose to book their flights and accommodation separately, and not through a travel agent or tour operator. In these cases, the same level of protection is not present and may cause considerable extra expense for the client.
There is a solution.
Independent Travellers cover is offered as an optional extra to our Economy and Premier travel insurance policies and offers some of the financial protection customers would normally receive from a tour operator when purchasing a package holiday.
